Nuclear Power is Bad
Nuclear power is safer and more environmentally friendly than supposedly green energy, such as solar and wind. Further, it can provide reliable power 24/7, year after year.
It’s odd that many are against a power source that produces zero harmful emissions. Talk about clean. According to science writer Ronald Bailey: “The economists reckon that the construction of each additional nuclear power plant, by reducing air pollution, could save more than 800,000 life years.”
Organic Farming
Organic farming undoubtably has some benefits, but it has a significant flaw that is rarely discussed. The lower yields from organic agriculture means more acreage must be devoted to farming, which is bad for wildlife. The worst thing for wildlife and wild spaces is to repurpose it for human use.
If you study the literature, you’ll notice there is a range of organic yields as compared to conventional agriculture, with organic being less productive and therefore producing smaller yields. Let’s consider 20% lower, which is the middle of the range. That means that 20% fewer crops will be produced if the land area is held constant or that the land area must be increased by 25% to compensate and produce the same amount. In short, either humans go hungry or plants and animals lose their homes.
Sri Lanka ran an interesting experiment that forced all farmers to adopt organic agricultural practices, and that, ultimately, led to the toppling of the government. “Proponents of organic agriculture, by contrast, committed to naturalistic fallacies and suspicious of modern agricultural science, can offer no plausible solutions. What they offer, as Sri Lanka’s disaster has laid bare for all to see, is misery.”
As a side note, increased carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere makes plants more productive and require less water, both of which help the environment, leaving more space and more water for nature.
Police Kill Unarmed Black Men
After the murder of George Floyd by police officers in 2020, some claimed that the police were out to hunt down and kill black men.
What is the probability that an unarmed black man will be killed by a police officer in the United States? Approximately 21 are killed a year out of a population of about 21 million black males, or one per million per year. [Source: The Washington Post]
What can we make of this? One per million per year is a very low rate. Either the police aren’t aiming for black men, or they have poor skills.
A 2015 Justice Department analysis of the Philadelphia Police Department found that white police officers were less likely than black or Hispanic officers to shoot unarmed black suspects.
Project 1619
Was America founded in a way to promote slavery? That’s the claim of Project 1619. However, Project 1619 is riddled with historical errors and misinterpretations. Credit goes to Phil Magness who has done much of the heavy lifting to highlight these errors.

Public Health Authorities Were Basically Correct During COVID-19
Most of what public health authorities were saying during COVID-19 was diametrically opposed to the conclusions of public health authorities in the decades leading up to 2020.
Racism Holds Black Americans Back
If racism is to blame for the poor performance of blacks in American, how can we explain a similar performance characteristic among certain groups of whites in England? Further, how can we explain how blacks performed better in America in the middle of the 20th century, when racism was more of a problem?

Recycling is Undeniably Good
Does it make sense to waste expensive resources to prevent the wastage of inexpensive resources? Sorting, cleaning, and handling recyclable materials requires energy, water, and human time, which is one of the most expensive resources on the planet.
Rent Control Makes Housing Affordable
Rent control ruins rental markets. Just consider Argentina. President Javier Milei scrapped rent control laws, which has resulted in a rental market boom and a 40% decline in the real price of rental properties after adjusting for inflation.
Why does rent control ruin rental markets? It creates the wrong incentives for landlords and renters.
Russiagate

Stated differently, the story that generated headlines for years was simply a big scam. Most news organizations that fueled the scam have yet to come clean.
Socialism is Good
When has socialism ever worked? Don’t look toward Sweden, which never was socialistic and has been rolling back many of its social programs and today favors free markets more than ever.
Instead, look toward true socialistic countries: North Korea, East Germany, Cuba, China, and the Soviet Union. Consider this and this. Or, better yet, watch this YouTube video:
Here’s a question for socialists: If you lived in Berlin in 1988, the year before the Berlin Wall fell, would you have preferred the eastern or the western side of the city?
Solar and Wind Power are Good
The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, the world’s largest solar thermal power station, set in the Mojave Desert of California, turned out to be a “bird fryer.” It attracted insects and the birds that eat them. The birds would catch on fire by the focused light of the mirrors and smoke as they burned on their way to the ground.
Wind farms kill birds of prey and bats. The wind turbines at Altamont Pass in California kill an estimated 880 to 1,300 birds of prey each year. If oil rigs or a nuclear powerplant killed as many eagles, hawks, kestrels, and falcons, you can imagine the protests.
The real problem with wind and solar power, however, is the amount of space they require and the volume of construction materials they consume. We can’t save the environment by covering it with solar panels. Plus, because they only produce electricity while the sun is shining and the wind is blowing, these energy sources need backup generators, often powered by fossil fuels. Batteries are increasingly being used. Both backup approaches—generators and batteries—increase overall financial and environmental costs.
The International Energy Agency’s data show a clear correlation between higher solar and wind energy production and higher energy prices.
“Some Very Fine People”
This quote refers to President Trump supposedly defending neo-Nazis and white nationalists after a protest turned violent in Charlottesville in 2017.
“President Trump defended the white nationalists who protested in Charlottesville on Tuesday, saying they included ‘some very fine people,’ while expressing sympathy for their demonstration against the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.” [The Atlantic, 15 August 2017]
Trump was very clear that he was not supporting hate groups. “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists — because they should be condemned totally.”
This mistake was repeated by many but fact-checked by few.
